Our Morning of Recollection on Saturday 29th August in St Michael's Hall was a blessed and joyful gathering.
Led beautifully by Mgr Canon Mark Crisp ,we reflected on the life of St Francis in this special Jubilee Year marking 800 years since his passing, and on our responsibility to care for our common home as we enter the Season of Creation. The session involved everyone in a lively discussion on how we can rebuild the Church today in the legacy left by St Francis of Assisi - through simplicity, care for creation, and love for all. It was a morning of prayer, quiet reflection, and rich sharing, ending with a wonderful shared lunch and fellowship. Thank you to everyone who came and to all who brought food to share. A truly uplifting start to our Season of Creation journey! How are Catholics living and worshipping amid the devastating war in Sudan?
Our latest report looks at the experience of Catholics in the embattled city of El Obeid, where Our Lady Queen of Africa Cathedral stands surrounded by a mosque, military barracks and a national security building. The headless statue of Mother Mary at the cathedral bears witness to the destruction and desecration caused by the conflict. Watch the full story through the link below and hear how faith, fear and prayer shape daily life amid the war in Sudan.👉 Watch the report here: https://news.sky.com/share/13575714 |
