ECUMENICAL PILGRIMAGE to Rome
At the end of October, pilgrims from the city centre churches; SS Peter and Paul, St Peter's Collegiate Church and Darlington Street Methodist Church, spent six days in Assisi and Rome, visiting the Holy Places and praying together each day. Below you can see us all in the garden of the Venerable English College, a place of welcome to English pilgrims since 1362.
Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy:
Dec 8th 2015 – Nov 20th 2016
Dec 8th 2015 – Nov 20th 2016
Following the opening of the Holy Door of St Peter’s Basilica in Rome by Pope Francis to launch the Year of Mercy on the 8th December, the Holy Doors of the Jubilee Churches in the Archdiocese were opened on Sunday 13th December. As the Jubilee Church in Wolverhampton we welcomed Bishop David McGough at the 10.15 Mass on Sunday Morning to perform the opening ceremony.
Archbishop Bernard’s Invitation for the Year of Mercy
The Jubilee Year of Mercy is a wonderful opportunity for all of us, an opportunity for grace, for the chance to deepen our faith or to rekindle faith. I would like to invite you to walk through the Door of Mercy at St Chad’s Cathedral or in one of the other Jubilee Churches across the Archdiocese. To pass through a Holy Door is to enter while yet within this world into the presence of God.
Pope Francis wants the Holy Year to be a moment when our faith is strengthened, so that it will be “for all believers a true moment of encounter with the mercy of God". The Holy Father said, "it is indeed my wish that the Jubilee be a living experience of the closeness of the Father, whose tenderness is almost tangible, so that the faith of every believer may be strengthened and thus testimony to it be ever more effective. “
At our Jubilee Churches, where pilgrims will enter the house of God’s mercy, there will be a special emphasis on celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation or Penance as a certain and rich source of merciful forgiveness – helping us to seek out God’s mercy in the circumstances of our own lives. I would encourage us all to go on pilgrimage to a Jubilee Church – or to one of the places of pilgrimage within the Archdiocese - as a sign of the ongoing journey of conversion and renewal to which we are all called. Do, please, invite others to join us on this pilgrimage.
When we enter through the Door of Mercy this Holy Year we cannot be certain exactly where it will lead. Confessing our sins and being reconciled to God and our neighbour can open up some unforeseen possibilities for the future. This is truly a moment of grace that we must seize.

HOLY WEEK 2016
EASTER 2015
Once again the night sky above the church was illuminated with fireworks following the Easter Vigil in celebration of the Resurrection of The Lord. The Vigil, the final part of the Easter Triduum, saw Yomi and Jess baptised, David received into the Church and Kingsley make his first Holy Communion.

Fr. Mark completed his sponsored run on March 1st in aid of sending young people from our diocese to a Mission Experience in Brazil this summer. If you have not already given your sponsorship, Fr. Mark will be collecting it this weekend.
Many thanks to everyone who helped make Night Fever such a success on January 24th. The Church looked beautiful and there was a wonderful prayerful atmosphere all evening. The many people who came into church, (for some of them the first time in their lives) found the experience very profound and moving. Many thanks to Wolverhampton University Cathsoc and Soli House for their wonderful support.

This year we marked Laetare Sunday with music and singing celebrating the African origins of so many of our parishioners. This photo caught some of us exiting into the glorious sunshine we also had that morning!
On Sunday 16th March we were delighted to host Bishop David McGough who came to present the diocesan award "Ubi Caritas" to two of our devoted parishioners Theresa Fisher and Teresa Mitchell. Between them they have given over 100 years service to the life of the parish!

On Tuesday 2nd December (2014) a crowded gathering in the Guild room celebrated the Advent Feast. The Advent feast is a great way to celebrate Advent with your family. It is very easy to do, just choose a time when your family can eat together and follow the simple instructions from the Advent Feast Booklet.
The Booklet can be downloaded from the Advent Resources Page.
