Bulletin for Seventh Sunday of Easter

​PENTECOST NOVENA The nine days after the Solemnity of the Ascension to Pentecost are traditionally set aside for prayer uniting ourselves with the Apostles gathered with Mary in the upper room in Jerusalem waiting for the gift of the Holy Spirit. This is where we get the term, Novena, which comes from the Latin word for nine- Novem. Novena prayers are available to print out on the website. Please print off copies for friends who do no have the internet. There are also great prayer resources from the “Thy Kingdom Come” initiative, which can also be found on our website.

VIRTUAL PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES Those who have the internet will be able to follow the virtual pilgrimage online this week starting with Mass with the Archbishop at 3.00pm this Sunday.

THE CHOSEN There is an excellent recent production exploring the lives of the characters who met Jesus in the gospels. It was put onto youtube over Easter with a commentary before and after each episode. If you want to ignore the commentary, follow the links to watch it on the App. The episodes are well worth watching as a family, or to pass on to people who are interested in finding out more about Christianity as they give a wonderful insight into the the person of Jesus. QUIZ TIME: Richard of York Gave Battle in Vain: which flower was the badge of his Ducal House? The colours of the rainbow will be used as a basis for a series of  parish quizzes. The first theme is therefore: red.  A new one will come out every 3 weeks, with answers after 4. CAFOD The effects of coronavirus on developing countries where CAFOD works are to be devastating. Families without enough to eat and without access to clean water and healthcare are particularly vulnerable to coronavirus. The poorest and most marginalised communities will be pushed further into poverty. Your prayers and gifts are needed now more than ever to help protect the lives of those in poor communities. While we are not able to hold physical collections in our church, you can donate as individuals at cafod.org.uk/coronavirusappeal 

Friends of the Holy Land launched an appeal in March for those impacted in Bethlehem and widened it on 3 April as a Pentecost Challenge to cover the whole of the region. They secured match funding for the first £100,000 and, with a few days to go to Pentecost, are close to reaching the target but are seeking help to get over the line.
