World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly

​This Monday is the feast of SS Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus. Pope Francis has decreed that the nearest Sunday to this feast should from now on each year be dedicated to Grandparents and the Elderly. This day provides a moment to stop and thank God for our grandparents and for the treasure of our elderly relatives and parishioners. Our families and parish communities would be impoverished without their wealth of experience and wisdom. So, we thank God for them today and ask God’s blessings upon them. As this feast becomes a tradition each year, let’s think of ways we can celebrate this in future years.
